
SRINAGAR (92 News) – Kashmiris on both sides of the Line of Control and across the world are observing Indian Republic Day as Black Day today, in protest against India’s continued denial of their right to self-determination.
Call for observance of the Black Day has been given by All Parties Hurriyat Conference Chairman, Syed Ali Gilani, and other Hurriyat leaders and organizations including Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai and Mirwaiz Umar Farooq-led Hurriyat forum.
The day is marked with a complete strike in occupied Kashmir and anti-India demonstrations and rallies in world capitals.
This year, the observance of the Black Day is also aimed at registering protest against the continued lockdown of occupied Kashmir imposed by India for the past almost six months since August 5, last year.
Protest rallies and demonstrations will also be held in Pakistan and Azad Kashmir today.
Meanwhile, stringent measures in the name of security have been taken on India’s Republic Day, today, bringing more miseries to the already besieged people in occupied Kashmir.
Indian troops have intensified checking and frisking in Srinagar city and other parts of the territory.
While the Kashmir Valley remains under strict military lockdown on 175th straight day, today Indian troops and police personnel have been deployed in strength to keep a watch on the movement of people.
In Srinagar, all roads leading towards a cricket stadium, where the main function of 26th January is scheduled to be held, have been sealed with barbed wire and barricades have been erected around the stadium.

RAWALPINDI (92 News) – Indian troops resorted to unprovoked fire along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Chirikot sector on Saturday, deliberately targeting civil population.
According to a press release issued by the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), 21-year-old woman, a resident of Serian Village, sustained serious injuries and was evacuated to a nearby medical facility.
On December 19, at least two civilians were martyred and three Pakistan Army soldiers were injured when Indian troops targeted civilian population across the Line of Control (LoC).
In a statement, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that Indian troops resorted to unprovoked fire in Laswa village of Neelum Valley across LOC, targeting civilian population. Two civilians embraced martyrdom, while three other people including a woman were injured.
Pakistan army troops responded effectively targeting Indian post which initiated fire, the statement added. Those who were martyred have been identified as 14-year-old Shehryar and 29-year-old Naveed resident of Laswa village.
India has continuously been breaching a ceasefire along the LoC.

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan in a tweet on Saturday said the world is now acknowledging the “anti-democratic and fascist ideology” the Modi government has been imposing in India and occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
“This is the biggest threat to regional peace and stability. Already 8 million Kashmiris & Muslims in India are suffering because of Modi’s fascist policies,” the premier tweeted, sharing the front cover of a London-based weekly magazine.
Taking to the popular micro-blogging site on Friday, the prime minister had asked Pakistanis at home and abroad to come out on the 5th Feb in support of the eight million Kashmiris who have been besieged by 900,000 Indian soldiers for almost six months by the fascist racist Modi regime.
His tweet followed on the heels of an announcement by the government to kick off a countrywide campaign on the Kashmir issue from January 25.

Addressing a press conference in Islamabad alongside Special Assistant to PM on Information Firdous Ashiq Awan and Communication Minister Murad Saeed, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi had said on directives of the prime minister the campaign would be launched across the country to show solidarity with Kashmir people who were put under siege by BJP government since August 5, 2019.

MUZAFFARABAD: Azad Jammu and Kashmir Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider has urged the international community to play its role and stop massive human rights violations by the Indian military and paramilitary forces in occupied Kashmir.
Farooq Haider said that imposition of black-laws are totally against the democratic norms and culture.
He said that India has violated the UNSC resolutions on Kashmir and world powers should exert pressure on India to hold dialogue.

Earlier in the day, the participants of a demonstration had staged protest at the main gate of Diplomatic Enclave in Islamabad on Sunday on the republic day of India.
It is to be mentioned here that India celebrates its Republic Day on January 26 every year, the date when the country’s constitution came into effect.
The representatives of civil society and Hurriyet leaders had attended the protest in Islamabad on a call given by the All Parties Hurriyet Conference to mark January 26 as black day. The protesters had chanted slogans against Indian atrocities and in the favor of the independence of Kashmir.
