ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Prime Minister Imran Khan on Sunday strongly condemned the unprovoked firing by Indian security forces on the civilian population along the Line of Control (LoC).

In a statement, he sought better status in heaven for those civilians and soldiers of Pakistan Army, who martyred in the firing and prayed early recovery of the injured.

The Prime Minister saluted the Pakistan Army for their bravery, valiance, and giving a befitting response to Indian security forces.

Nine soldiers of the Indian army were killed and many others injured when Pakistan Army troops "effectively responded" to the latest Indian ceasefire violations, deliberately targeting civilians, in Jura, Shahkot and Nousehri sectors along the Line of Control, the director general of the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Sunday.

Earlier, ISPR Major General Asif Ghafoor stated that a soldier of Pakistan Army and three civilians embraced martyrdom, while two soldiers and five civilians sustained injuries in an exchange of fire. Later, in another tweet, he mentioned that the civilian casualties rose to five.

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan on Sunday saluted the Pakistan Army’s courage for giving a befitting response to the Indian forces.

In a statement, the prime minister condemned unprovoked firing by Indian forces from across the Line of Control (LoC) targeting the civilian population in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

PM Khan prayed for the martyred Pakistani soldier and six civilians and speedy recovery of those injured. He saluted the Pakistan Army’s courage for giving a befitting response to the Indian forces.

Earlier in the day, nine soldiers of the Indian army were killed and many others injured when Pakistan Army troops gave a befitting response to Indian ceasefire violations in Jura, Shahkot and Nousehri Khuiratta and Kotkhetera Tatta Pani sectors along the Line of Control (LoC).

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) the Director General on Sunday, at least six civilians and a Pakistani soldier were martyred as Indian troops resorted to indiscriminate and ruthless shelling from across the LoC in AJK. Officials said that nine other civilians were injured, adding that this was the highest death toll in 2019 in a single day of Indian shelling from across the dividing line.

Pakistani forces effectively responded to enemy fire, killing nine Indian soldiers and injuring several others. Two Indian bunkers were also destroyed in retaliatory action.

In his tweet, the DG ISPR that one soldier had been martyred in the exchange of fire while two others were injured. “In response to unprovoked ceasefire violations by India in Jura, Shahkot and Nauseri sectors, nine Indian soldiers were killed while several others were injured and two Indian bunkers were destroyed,” he added.
