SRINAGAR (92 News) – Indian troops in their fresh acts of state terrorism martyred three Kashmiri youth as military siege, worst curfew and communications lockdown in Indian Occupied Kashmir (IoK) has been entered 74th successive day, today.
According to the KMS, Although the voice call service on post-paid mobile phones has partially been restored, yet the situation is far from normal. Mobile internet and broadband as well as about two million phones using prepaid SIM cards continue to remain suspended due to curfew.
Shops in Srinagar and other parts of the Valley usually open only for a couple of hours in the morning and evening to restock supplies, keeping shutters down during the day.
Public transport continues to remain mostly absent and only private vehicles and those with special permits can be seen on the roads. Offices remain almost empty and there are virtually no students in schools and colleges which reopened recently.
Many believe that the continued shutdown is due to popular anger at India’s Aug 5 unilateral action, comparing it to a campaign of civil disobedience.
The youth were killed in a fake encounter by the troops during cordon and search operations in Pazalpora area of Islamabad district. The martyred youth have been identified as Nasir Chadro, a resident of Arwani, Aaqib Ahmad Sheikh of Redwani and Zahid Ahmad from Bijbehara.
A day earlier, in Occupied Kashmir, a large number of women protesters, including the daughter and the sister of former puppet chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Farooq Abdullah, were detained in Srinagar during protests against the revocation of Kashmir’s special status.
Women carrying placards had gathered at the Pratap Park near Srinagar’s Lal Chowk and as they started protesting, the police swooped in on them and detained over a dozen women.

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Foreign Minister (FM) Shah Mehmood Qureshi has said that India wants to divert attention of the world from Indian Occupied Kashmir (IoK) as humanitarian crisis is emerging in Jammu region valley.
Addressing a ceremony on Thursday, the foreign minister said on August 5, India sought to further consolidate its illegal and immoral occupation of IoK in violation of numerous UNSC resolutions and international law.
FM Qureshi said the inhuman lockdown of eight million people continuing for over 70 days is imposing unspeakable sufferings and humanitarian crisis on the people of occupied valley. He said we will continue to stand by Kashmiris in their just struggle for realization of the right to self-determination.
India resorted to war mongering nuclear threats
The minister mentioned that India’s hegemonic pretensions present a clear danger to regional stability, and to Pakistan’s security. He also said India resorts to war-mongering and issues nuclear threats including for short term domestic electoral gains.
He also said Indian refuses to bilaterally engage dialogue and rejects proposals aimed at risk reduction, confidence-building and nuclear and missile restraint.
“Pakistan desires peace and strategic stability in order to focus on its socio-economic development agenda,” FM Qureshi said. “Our conduct continues to be defined by restraint and responsibility, and the avoidance of an arms race. Pakistan, however, cannot remain oblivious to the evolving security dynamics in its immediate neighbourhood,” he added.
Pakistan supported Afghan peace talks in Doha, Abu Dhabi
Referring to Afghanistan, FM Qureshi said Pakistan is fully supporting peace and reconciliation, to be achieved through an Afghan-led and Afghan-owned process. “We have supported all rounds of Afghan peace talks in Doha and Abu Dhabi. We hope that the US-Taliban talks recommence and lead to intra-Afghan negotiations,” he maintained.
Determined to execute CPEC projects
The minister said China remains our closest friend and a steadfast partner. “We are determined to execute CPEC projects and, in our recent visit to China, have proposed more projects for Chinese investment that can rejuvenate and consolidate our economy,” he said.
